It is dangerous for a national
candidate to say things people might remember. People start parades - politicians
just get out in front and act like they're leading. All celebrated people lose on a close
view. [It was] said that this was a time
when leaders should keep their ears to the ground. All I can say is that the British
nation will find it very hard to look up to leaders who are detected in that somewhat
ungainly posture. If you think that everything is going well,
you don't know what you're doing. The Presidencies When I was a boy I was told that
anybody could become President. I'm beginning to believe it. But there are advantages to being
elected President. The day after I was elected, I had my high school grades classified Top
Secret. A tree's a tree. How many more do you need to look
at? Jerry Ford is so dumb, he can't fart and chew gum at
