Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere
where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is
open, and rules are flexible - the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.
We should never permit ourselves to do anything that we are not
willing to see our children do. Your family and your love must be cultivated like a
garden. Time, effort, and imagination must be summoned constantly to keep any relationship
flourishing and growing. Motherhood qualified me to let the child
within come out and play. The bond that links your true family is not one of
blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.
It is better to bind your children to you by a feeling
of respect and by gentleness, than by fear.
If you want children to keep their feet on the ground, put some
responsibility on their shoulders. Your children will become what you are; so be what you
want them to be. Children need love, especially when they do not deserve
it. Fathers are like a lighthouse… when there is fog his
children can always depend on seeing the light. To understand your parents' love you must raise
children yourself. Instill great values in your children today and your
grandchildren will prosper tomorrow. Children are the reward of life. My fathers planted for me, and I planted for my
children.
